How Flying Robots Might Prevent Deforestation - Report Summary Draft #1

By Alexander Quah Adapted from HTTP://MASHABLE.COM/2012/03/20/FLYING-ROBOTS-DEFORESTATION/ 1st JAN 2021 According to Morgen E. Peck (2012), flying drones are key in acting as a lookout to prevent and stop illegal activities in a forest. Illegal deforestation and fires were one of the events affecting the rainforest in Brazil. The article suggests that drug trafficking and mining were also made to be easier due to the low-level surveillance in the rainforest. The article proposes the use of Quadrotor drones to navigate through the rainforests, acting as a lookout for illegal activities that are happening. Task 3b: My interpretation of Gilbert Amelio's message

"Developing excellent communication skills is absolutely essential to effective leadership. The leader must be able to share knowledge and ideas to transmit a sense of urgency and enthusiasm to others. If a leader can't get a message across clearly and motivate others to act on it, then having a message doesn't even matter." -Gilbert Amelio, President and CEO of National Semiconductor Corp This is my interpretation of the quoted paragraph: According to Gilbert Amelio (AZQuotes, n.d), to be an effective leader, communication skills are vital. Not only must the leader be able to convey messages accurately, but the leader should also inspire and spur others into action. If unable to do so, the leader has failed to be efficient and effective. Signing off, Alexander Quah

Submission 1: More about Alexander Quah

Hello! I am Alexander Quah, a student from the communication class MEC 1281 Group 6. I write to everyone in hopes that you will know me better. To start off with my educational background, I have a diploma in Bioengineering obtained from the Singapore Polytechnic. I was blessed with plenty of opportunities to participate in multiple engineering and entrepreneurship competitions that require the designing of products throughout my time in secondary school and polytechnic. This sparked my interest in product design. Thus, I have applied to study Mechanical Engineering with a specialisation in Design at the Singapore Institute of Technology. Being able to communicate is one of the most essential life skill that one should have. One of the strengths that I find in myself having in communication is being able to communicate and break the ice whenever I meet new people. I enjoy starting conversations to learn more about a person through the interesting stories that they share . For inst
